In 1959 the artist was working from a corner alcove carved from the living room of the family residence at 2575 Palisade Ave., The Bronx, NY 10453. Right of the easel in the photo is a floor-to-ceiling bookcase that divided the alcove from the apartment entry. When the artist was not at work the alcove was closed by a roll-down curtain, here lowered behind the easel.
